If you will use 3.0mm crochet hook size of finished crochet poppy will be approximately 3 inches or 7 cm in diameter.

Abbreviations:
This pattern is written in US crochet terms.
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
(…) – repeat the space in brackets the given number of times
Materials and tools you will need:
- DK yarn – some red and black
- 3.0mm crochet hook (look at these amigurumi hooks on amazon 😉)
- Tapestry needle
- Hobby scissors
- Brooch pins (I used these 25mm pins from Amazon)
- Glue gun
We are going to start with black yarn. Continue working in rounds, every round to be finished with slip stitch.
Round 1: Magic circle, ch 3 and 12 dc, finish off with sl st into third ch of our ch of 3 at the very beginning of our round [12]
Crochet poppy after finishing round 1:
Change yarn to red colour after finishing round 1.
Round 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in the same st, (2 dc into next st) repeat 11 times, finish off with sl st into third ch of our ch 3 at the very beginning of our round [24]
Crochet poppy after finishing round 2:
Round 3: ch1, sc into next st, (2 dc into next st) repeat 4 times, sc into next 2 st, (2 dc into next st) repeat 4 times, sc into next 2 st, (2 dc into next st) repeat 4 times, sc into next 2 st, (2dc into next st) repeat 4 times, finish round with sl st in the very first st [40]

Assembly is very basic, just hide the ends and glue pin to the back of our crochet poppy.
