Wreath base
For the base I usedΒ 12β (30 cm) foam wreath which I wrapped in our colourful crochet cover. We are going to use 3 colours for our wreath cover β white, green and red.
Colours are being changed every 6 rows.
***I suggest that you check around your wreath to make sure that 34 stitches will be enough. It depends on the thickness of yarn/hook and size of your wreath you are going to use. Recently I made another wreath, yarn was a bit thicker and only 30 stitches was enough for me.***
Make chain of 35 st and begin crocheting from chain 2. Every row will start with ch 1.
Rows 1-215(216 rows): ch 1, sc in all 34 st [34]
Finish off and leave very long tail for sewing.
Now we have long crocheted wreath cover which we will need to wrap around our foam base and stitch. And thatβs where funny part begins π As our wreath is made out of 3 different colours, we are going to use 3 colours to sew it together.
When you wrap your crocheted strip around the wreath make sure that you match up the rows and colours. Now take your tapestry needle and start stitch it together, change yarn colour on the needle every time colour changes on the wreath. It always looks like it wonβt work out, but keep matching up the beginning of the row to the end of the same row and it will all come together with no lumps or bumps at the end.
For wreath decoration I used crochet holly, crochet gnome and crochet bow.
You will see instructions below how to make crochet bow, pattern for crochet holly you can find here, and pattern for gnome here.
Crochet bow
Start with ch of 15 and begin crochet from ch 3:
Row 1-25: ch 2, hdc in next 13 st [13]
When finished sl st both ends together.
Middle tie for crochet bow
Chain 17 and begin crochet from ch 2:
Row 1: sc in all 16 st [16]
Row 2-3: ch 1, sc in all 16 st [16]
When done not finish it off, sl st both ends around our bow as show in the picture below:
At the end our finished bow looks like that:
Crochet Christmas Wreath assembly
I used glue gun to assemble my crochet Christmas wreath. Just use your imagination where and how to place your decorations. As you see, my example is displayed below:
