Our finished butternut squash stem:
Assembly
Step 1: Fold the long sides together making sure that rows with front loops sticking out are 2 rows away from the joining stitch at each side. If you follow this, after stitching both sides together our stitch will look the same as the rows with front loops sticking out and it will be almost invisible. Get the tapestry needle and using long tail (what we’ve left after finishing off) sew sides together.
Step 2: If you still have yarn left on the needle, sew a running stitch along the bottom edge (bottom is where all our ends from yarn change are). Before closing make sure all yarn ends are inside of our crochet butternut squash. If you run out of tail yarn, just get more matching yarn.
Step 3: Without a doubt, our next step is stuffing. Now get some filling and stuff the pumpkin through the top opening. Stuff as much as you would like to, but try to stuff the bottom of our crochet squash more than the top.
Step 4: Next, get a tapestry needle with matching yarn and sew a running stitch along the top edge of our crochet squash. Make a few knots and pass needle through to another side. Furthermore, create some tension between the top and the bottom – that will give squished effect to our crochet butternut squash. Finally, weave the yarn and cut excess ends.
Step 5: Finally, attach a long tail of yarn from our stem to a tapestry needle and start sewing it to the top of our crochet butternut squash.
After you’ve finished – our crochet butternut squash is done 😊
