So today we are going to work on Smiley crochet teddy bear pattern in stripy dungarees. This amigurumi teddy looks very positive and so easy to fall in love with him 😊
Finished amigurumi teddy height is around 20 cm, but of course it depends from the hook and yarn size you are going to use.

Materials you will need:
- Approximately 50g DK yarn of brown colour
- Approximately 40 g DK yarn of desired dungarees colours
- Safety eyes (your preferred size)
- 2.5mm crochet hook
- Black thread for nose
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Fibrefill
- Stitch makers
- 2 buttons for dungarees
Abbreviations:
SC – single crochet
INC – single crochet increase
DEC – single crochet decrease
SL ST – slip stitch
CH – chain
HDC – half double crochet
Head and body
Make it out of brown yar.
Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Round 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [30]
Round 6: (4 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [36]
Round 7: (5 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [42]
Round 8: (6 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [48]
Round 9-18(10 rounds): sc all around [48]
Insert eyes between round 10 and 11, 10 stitches apart.
After inserting eyes to amigurumi teddy you can start stuffing your head. Stuff as you go.
Round 19: (6 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [42]
Round 20: (5 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [36]
Round 21: (4 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [30]
Round 22: (3 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
Round 23: (2 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
Round 24: (2 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Round 25: (3 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [30]
Round 26: (4 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [36]
When crocheting round 27, I suggest you insert some stitch markers every 18 stitches . It will make life a bit easier in round 28.
Round 27: (inc) repeat 36 times [72]
Round 28: sc in next 18, skip next 18 st (it will be arm opening), sc in next 18 st, skip next 18 st (second arm opening) [36]
Round 29: (sc in next 5 st, inc) repeat around [42]
Round 30: (sc in next 6 st, inc) repeat around [48]
Round 31-44: sc in all 48 st [48]
In round 45 of our amigurumi teddy we are going to divide body and start working on our legs. Body has to be divided in the middle, 24 sc each side. You will need to find middle by yourself. Please see picture below.
Don’t forget to stuff as you go.
Leg 1
Make it out of brown yarn.
Round 45: sc to the middle, skip 24 sc, sc rest of the round.
Round 46-60(15 rounds): sc in all stitches around [24]
Round 61: sc in 11 st, 2 hdc in next 7 st, sc in next 6 st [31]
Round 62-63: sc in next 11 st, hdc in next 14 st, sc in next 6 st [31]
Finish with sl st and star working on the second leg.
Leg 2
Make it out of brown yarn.
Round 45-60(15 rounds): sc in all stitches around [24]
Round 61: sc in 15 st, 2hdc in next7 st, sc in next 2 st [31]
Round 62-63: sc in next 15 st, hdc in next 14 st, sc in next 2 st [31]
Finish with sl st.
Soles
Make 2 of them and make it out of brown yarn. Start with chain of 6.
Round 1: (start from 2nd chain) 3 sc in ch, sc in next 3 ch, 6 sc in last ch, (start working on another side of the chain) sc in next 3 ch, 3 sc in the same ch as at the beginning of the round [18]
Round 2: ch 2, hdc in the same ch, 2 hdc in next 2 sc, hdc in next 3 sc, 2 hdc in next 6 st, hdc in next 3 st, 2 hdc in next 3 st, join beginning chain with sl st.
Round 3: place sole on the bottom of the foot and sl st in each sc around. Stuff with fibrefill before closing it off. Finish off and hide the end.
Hands (make 2)
Make it out of brown yarn. Start from arm openings (round 27 of the body). Stuff as you go.
Round 1: 16 sc around [16]
Round 2-15(14 rounds): sc around [16]
Round 16: (sc, dec) repeat 8 times [8]
Round 17: (dec) repeat 4 times [4]
Fasten off and hide ending.
Ears (make 2)
Make it out of brown yarn.
Round 1: magic ring of 6 sc [6]
Round 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
Round 3: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
Round 4-7: sc around [18]
Finish off with sl st and leave long tail for sewing.
Muzzle
Make it out of brown yarn.
Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
Round 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
Round 5-6: sc around [24]
Finish off with sl st and leave long tail for sewing.
Head assembly
Flatten ears and sew them to the side of the head, don’t forget only one ear on each side 😉
Sew muzzle below eyes and stuff before closing.
Embroider nose and smile as shown below in the picture. I used black yarn for embroidery, but what stops you using different colour?

So now we have finished our crochet teddy bear pattern. Looks cute isn’t? 😊
But teddy is cold and needs some clothes! 😉 I am going for stripy dungarees.
For some reason I just like stripy and bright amigurumi clothes 😊
I am going to use 2 shades of light blue.
Ok, let’s move to our dungarees.
Dungarees
We will begin with chain of 48 st. At the end of the chain join ends to make a circle as we will be working in circles. Before closing the circle make sure that chain is not too long or too short. You can work it out by checking it around teddy’s waist. It doesn’t need to be too loose or too tight. Just a bit loose to leave some breathing space. If it isn’t, just add or remove a few stitches.
Round 1: (starting from ch 3) hdc around [46]
Round 2: ch 2, hdc around [46]
Change the coulour.
Round 3: ch 2, hdc around [46]
Now we start working on the trousers’ legs. Repeat rounds 4-10 on both sides.
Round 4: Ch 2, hdc, skip 23 st, 22 hdc [23]
Change the coulour.
Round 5-6: ch 2, hdc around [23]
Change the coulour.
Round 7-8: ch 2, hdc around [23]
Change the coulour.
Round 9-10: ch 2, hdc around [23]
Finish with sl st and start working on another side.
In the picture below you can see how finished bottom of the trousers looks like:
Now we finished working on the bottom part of our dungarees and we will be working on the top part. Attach yarn to the top of our trousers and start working in rounds. Doesn’t really matter where you attach it, somewhere on the side.
Round 1: ch 2, (hdc in next 5 sc, dec) repeat 7 times, 4 hdc [39]
Round 2: ch 2, (hdc in next 4 sc, dec) repeat 7 times, 4 hdc [32]
Change the colour.
Round 3: ch 2, (hdc in next 4 sc, dec) repeat 7 times, 5 hdc [25]
Use stitch markers to mark front of the dungarees as shown in the picture below, 8 stitches apart. Make sure it is aligned in center.
Round 3-4: sc till the first stitch marker, ch 1, (hdc) repeat 8 times, ch 1, sc till the end of the row. Finish with sl st.
Straps – make 2
Start with chain 20.
Starting from chain 3: hdc, ch 1, skip 1 ch, hdc till the end of the chain.
Finish with sl st and leave long tail for sewing.
That’s how our finished straps look like. You can see in the picture little holes which will be used for buttons:
Now we need to sew buttons to front of dungarees and sew straps to the back.
