Crochet Advent Calendar

Crochet Advent calendar

It’s that time of the year when we are starting to get ready for Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 And I thought, what about handmade crochet Advent calendar this year?

This crochet Advent calendar is easy to make and will last you years! Amazing surprise for your loved ones, as it is handmade with love 😊 And you can fill it with whatever you want, in my case it will be chocolate.

We are going to start from making our main body. I used chunky yarn for main body as I’ve found it being thicker and more stable, but you can use DK yarn as well.

Afterwards, we are going to make all 24 numbers (you can find patterns and video tutorials for all numbers here) and 24 pocket squares.

Lastly assembly will follow, which is prety basic:

  • Attaching numbers to squares
  • Attaching squares with numbers to main body
  • Attaching magnets to our squares
  • Attaching our dowell to the main body
  • And last step – attaching chain of stitches to the top of dowell

Start with chain of 71 stitch.

Starting from the second stitch:

Numbers

Now we need to make numbers to attach to our pockets – I used pink DK yarn but you can use any preferred colour.

You can find patterns and video tutorials for all numbers in my separate post – numbers from 0 to 9.

In total you will need to make:

  • 12 x number 1
  • 8 x number 2
  • 3 x number 3
  • 3 x number 4
  • 2 x number 5
  • 2 x number 6
  • 2 x number 7
  • 2 x number 8
  • 2 x number 9
  • 2 x number 0

Assembly of crochet Advent calendar

Step 1: Using tapestry needle attach numbers from 1 to 24 to our pockets. When attaching numbers to our pockets make sure, that long tail for sewing pockets to our main body stays at the right top corner. That will make it easier attaching pockets to our main body later.

Step 2: Distribute all pockets with already attached numbers over the crochet Advent calendar body. Secure it with safety pins, if needed. Using tapestry needle attach all pockets to the main body in whatever sequence you would like.
