Looking for a perfect present to a baby? What about this cute and very soft crochet bunny rabbit!🥰 You can play with any colour variations and any yarn you would like to, just make sure you adapt your crochet hook size. But if you are going to use Bernat Baby Blanket Pink Yarn and crochet hook at size 3.5mm, finished toy will be approximately 35cm height, which is quite decent size. This yarn is so soft and easy to work with, just perfect for this crochet bunny project.

Tools and materials: 

Abbreviations (US terms): 

SC – single c rochet 

ST – stitch 

INC – increase 

DEC – decrease 

Head 

Work in continuous circles. 

Round 1: 6 SC into magic circle [6] 

Round 2: (INC) repeat 6 times [12] 

Round 3: (SC in next ST, INC) repeat 6 times [18]  

Round 4: (SC in next 2 ST, INC) repeat 6 times [24] 

Round 5: (SC in next 3 ST, INC) repeat 6 times [30] 

Round 6: (SC in next 4 ST, INC) repeat 6 times [36] 

Round 7: (SC in next 5 ST, INC) repeat 6 times [42] 

Round 8-11 (4 rounds): SC in next 42 ST [42] 

Round 12: SC in next 9 ST, (INC) repeat 3 times, SC in next 18 ST, (INC) repeat 3 times, SC in next 9 ST [48] 

Round 13-17 (5 rounds): SC in next 48 ST [48]

Now we are going to insert eyes. Eyes are inserted between rounds 11 and 12, approximately 9-10 stitches apart.

I’ve used blue 8mm eyes, but you always can pick different size and colour.



Round 18: (SC in next 6 ST, DEC) repeat 6 times [42] 

Round 19: (SC in next 5 ST, DEC) repeat 6 times [36] 

Round 20: (SC in next 4 ST, DEC) repeat 6 times [30] 

Round 21: (SC in next 3 ST, DEC) repeat 6 times [24] 

Round 22: (SC in next 2 ST, DEC) repeat 6 times [18] 

Round 23: (SC in next 1 ST, DEC) repeat 6 times [12] 

Round 24: (DEC) repeat 6 times [6] 

Stuff head with toy filling before closing off. When fully stuffed, close off and hide the end inside of the head. 

Our finished head:

Now, when head is complete, we are going to create face features by tightening yarn inside of our head. 

Get tapestry needle with the same yarn colour as head.

First point is at the bottom of our head, approximately at round 22, slightly right from the middle. 

Second, third, fifth and sixth points will be under eyes inside and outside, a few stitches apart. 

Fourth point is 2 stitches left from the first point. 

Yarn goes this way: 

Point 1 -> Point 2 -> Point 3 -> Point 4 -> Point 5 -> Point 6 -> Point 1, tension the yarn, hide the ends inside of the head. 

Bunny’s ears 

Make 2 ears put of the same colour as head, work in continuous circles. 

Round 1: 6 SC into magic circle [6] 

Round 2: (INC) repeat 6 times [12] 

Round 3: (SC in next ST, INC) repeat 6 times [18]  

Round 4: (SC in next 2 ST, INC) repeat 6 times [24]

Work in continuous circles.

Round 3: SC in next 12 ST [12] 

Round 4: (SC in next 2 ST, DEC) repeat 3 times [9] 

Finish off and leave long tail for sewing.

Assembly 

Step 1: Using white DK yarn embroider nose and using black DK yarn embroider eyebrows. 

Step 2: Using tapestry needle and long tail from the body attach head to the body. 

Step 3: Using tapestry needle and long tails from ears attach ears to the top of the head, approximately 4 stitches apart and 5-6 rows above eyes. 

Step 4: Using tapestry needle attach legs to the body, approximately 7 stitches from the bottom. 

Step 5: Using tapestry needle attach arms to the body, approximately 2-3 stitches below head. 

Step 6: Using tapestry needle attach tail to the back of the body, approximately 7 stitches from the bottom. 

And that’s it, our crochet bunny rabbit is complete 😊
